About San Francisco Bay Area Online

San Francisco Bay Area Online

A Times Media Service publication.

Fog at the gate, eyes on the Bay.

We love the San Francisco Bay Area from its foggy coast and steep streets to its sunny inland hills. We know a place of ferries, sourdough, shoreline walks and ideas taking shape in Mountain View. We believe news here should make sense of what happens on both sides of the water. We bring you the stories behind the places you pass and the changes you feel. We are San Francisco Bay Area Online.

How we started

The San Francisco Bay Area stretches from fog along the Pacific to warmer inland valleys, with the Bay running through the middle of it all. Ferries cross its water, trails climb its hills, and neighborhoods on opposite shores can feel close and far apart at the same time. That mix is why we started San Francisco Bay Area Online: we wanted to cover this place with its geography, habits and differences in view.

We follow how life around the Bay changes, from the waterfront and the streets of San Francisco to Mountain View and the communities beyond. We make room for the things people here recognize without a map: the fog rolling in, the pull of the shoreline, and the mix of old landmarks and new work. We are part of Times Media Service, and we keep our attention on what those changes mean for people who call this region home.
